Tents and Towers

One of humanity’s greatest inventions, radiant cities offer beauty, creativity, close community and opportunity, while they also exhibit some of our worst qualities - our indifference to suffering and crushing inequalities, our creation of blight and waste.

In the series Tents and Towers I invite you to feel both realities, the sublime and the degraded, as they occur in our present moment. And I also ask you to question which are most alive, persistent, and creative - the splendid but impersonal and looming towers of downtown, or the tenacious, quirky, bedraggled encampments of the unhoused.
